What UK Cavapoo buyers should check about parent breeds, health screening, coat, temperament, records and breeder identity.

A Cavapoo has Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Poodle ancestry. The name describes the cross, not a guaranteed coat, size or temperament. Responsible comparison begins with the individual parents and the conditions in which the litter was raised.

Ask which Poodle size is involved

Toy and Miniature Poodles can produce different adult-size ranges. Ask for each parent's measured size, age and identity, and be cautious of a precise adult-weight promise for a young crossbred puppy.

Request health evidence for both sides

Ask which recognised screening was completed for the Cavalier parent and for the relevant Poodle variety. Read the original results, match them to the parent and ask your vet for help interpreting anything unclear.

Expect coat variation

Cavapoo coats may be straighter, wavier or curlier and can change as the puppy matures. No crossbreed is automatically hypoallergenic. Plan for brushing, ear care and professional grooming regardless of the puppy's current appearance.

Observe temperament, not colour

Meet the puppy with its mother and watch recovery from ordinary sounds, interest in people and interaction with littermates. Ask how the puppies have been handled and introduced to normal household experiences.

Move from research to listings carefully

Read the full Cavapoo breed guide first. On a listing, confirm the breeder, current availability, microchip, records, visit arrangements and contract before paying. If current inventory is limited, wait rather than lowering your checks.

Budget beyond the Cavapoo purchase price

Use the individual Pupnex listing for a current price rather than a generic market estimate. Ask what is included and budget separately for grooming, veterinary care, training and time away from work. Coat maintenance and separation training continue after the initial puppy stage.

UK and Northern Ireland are not one legal checklist

Check the rules where the puppy is bred and the route on which it will travel. Northern Ireland buyers should use the local buying guidance and verify any animal-movement requirements rather than applying an England-only rule. Keep care research, available puppies and local purchase checks as separate parts of the decision.

How do I choose between Cavapoo research and sale pages?
