Working and show lines

Ask whether the parents are English or American Cockers and, for English Cockers, whether they are working or show lines. Activity and scent interest can differ considerably. Plan daily exercise, training and calm rest, and assess suitability against an ordinary working week.

Ears, grooming and screening

Coat and ear care require regular attention, especially after wet walks. Ask which recognised eye and inherited-condition screening applies to the parents, and have your vet interpret the records. A friendly breed description does not remove the need for child supervision or individual temperament assessment.

General care information, not an individual veterinary assessment. Ask your own vet to interpret health records.
