About the Bernedoodle

Bernedoodles combine Bernese Mountain Dog and Poodle ancestry. Size, coat and temperament vary; assess the parents and care needs rather than expecting a guaranteed family match.

Bernese Mountain Dog and Poodle traits

Bernedoodles combine two parent breeds with different size and coat characteristics. Poodle variety and the individual parents matter more than mini or standard labels alone. A puppy may grow into a large, strong dog, so plan adult space, transport and training rather than assuming a calm-looking puppy will be an easy companion.

Activity and coat commitment

Provide regular walks, play and training matched to age and physical development. Avoid overloading a growing large dog. Mixed coats can shed or mat and need frequent brushing plus a grooming budget. Socialisation and gradual alone-time practice matter even where a puppy seems relaxed.

Health and family history

Ask about relevant hip, elbow, eye and inherited-condition screening for the actual parents and discuss Bernese family health and longevity. Crossbreeding does not erase parental risks. Have your vet interpret results and plan long-term care; coat colour or a generation label does not prove health.

General care information, not an individual veterinary assessment. Ask your own vet to interpret health records.
