About the Maltipoo

Maltese and Poodle ancestry

A Maltipoo is a Maltese–Poodle cross rather than a standardised size category. Ask which Poodle variety is involved and meet the parents where possible. 'Teacup' or 'micro' wording does not establish health or adult size. These small companion dogs can be playful and vocal and need patient training, not just a small living space.

Coat care, exercise and being alone

Plan frequent gentle brushing, professional grooming and positive handling practice. Coats vary and no Maltipoo is guaranteed hypoallergenic. Daily walks, play and enrichment still matter in a flat. Build alone-time gradually and arrange care for long absences; close companionship can come with separation difficulties.

Health, dental care and safe handling

Request screening appropriate to the Maltese and the Poodle variety, and discuss patellar, eye and other relevant risks with your vet. Include dental care and healthy weight in the ongoing plan. Children should learn careful handling and adults should supervise. Parent screening reduces some risks but cannot predict every illness or an individual lifespan.

General care information, not an individual veterinary assessment. Ask your own vet to interpret health records.
